Brunei Darussalam, 22 October 2024 – Brunei Darussalam, 22 October 2024 – SEAMEO VOCTECH officially commenced its 35th Governing Board Meeting today with an opening ceremony held at SEAMEO VOCTECH, Brunei Darussalam. The event was officiated by Yang Mulia Dr. Haji Azman bin Ahmad, Permanent Secretary (Higher Education), Ministry of Education, Brunei Darussalam, and attended by prominent regional education leaders.

Among the attendees were Ms. Pintip Iamnirath, SEAMEO Secretariat Ex-Officio; Dr. Haji Mohd Zamri bin Haji Sabli, SEAMEO VOCTECH Governing Board Chairman; Mr. Haji Norjemee bin Jenek, Centre Director; and esteemed Governing Board Members, along with SEAMEO VOCTECH management and staff.

The Governing Board Meeting is a critical forum for SEAMEO VOCTECH to present its accomplishments and significant developments from 2023-2024, and to outline strategic initiatives for the coming fiscal year. The Board reviews and deliberates on working papers categorised into matters for acknowledgment, approval, consideration, and information. These discussions are crucial for ensuring that Governing Board Members are well-equipped to guide the Centre’s strategic direction and oversee its operations effectively.

In conjunction with the Governing Board Meeting, SEAMEO VOCTECH will host a Sharing Session on 23 October 2024, under the theme “Inclusive TVET for a Green and Digital Future.” This session will provide a valuable platform for SEAMEO member countries and partners to exchange insights, share best practices, and explore collaborative opportunities to advance Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) across the region. The theme emphasises the importance of integrating sustainability and digital innovation within the TVET landscape, reflecting the growing need for future-proof skills in today’s rapidly evolving industries.

Held annually in October, the Governing Board Meeting brings together SEAMEO VOCTECH’s Governing Board Members to ensure that the Centre’s contributions align with the region’s broader educational development goals and SEAMEO’s strategic priorities. The event remains a cornerstone of regional collaboration, innovation, and progress in TVET, underscoring SEAMEO VOCTECH’s commitment to promoting sustainable, inclusive growth through education and skills development.
