This course relates primarily to the development of national competencies standards for individual professions. Competency Standard describes the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to perform in a particular job. This course is intended to be more ‘hands-on’ training that includes more comprehensive examples of units and elements of competency, performance criteria and range indicators. The aim of this course is to provide the basis for designing a training programme and detailed specifications for workplace assessment.

Evaluating educational programme is an emerging profession. The purpose of this kind of evaluation is to provide information to decision-makers who have responsibility for existing or proposed educational programmes. For this course, you will be taught to evaluate an educational programme where it will used to help make decisions concerning whether to develop a program (needs assessment), how best to develop a program (formative evaluation), and whether to modify or even continue an existing program (summative evaluation).
Enhancing TVET Delivery through Competency-Based Training
Competency-Based Training is a unique approach to training design that builds and enhances individual competencies in line with previously identifies profiles of success. It is a style of education that focuses on what you can achieve in the workplace after completing a training programme. This course helps fill gap between worker’s actual performance and their ideal performance, thus enhancing TVET delivery. This course will teach technical teachers how to assess which competencies are important to an organisation and individual positions, and how to design training around those competencies to achieve a better TVET delivery.
Enhancing TVET Delivery through School-Based and On-the-Job Training
This course is to teach technical teachers into understanding the apprenticeship based training where students expose to school-based training at vocational and technical institutions while they are able to conduct on-the-job training as a part time basis. The school based-training is aimed to reinforce what is learned through company based-training and to ensure that the student will acquire knowledge, competencies and skills, which are relevant to the occupation and occupational mobility. The course aim is to ensure that the school can enhance TVET delivery into developing the students’ general competencies and thus, lay the foundation for lifelong learning.
Enhancing TVET Relevancy to Industry Needs
This course will teach technical teachers to deliver occupation-oriented specialist instruction (65%) as well as general education (35%) in order for these training programmes to enhance TVET relevancy towards industry needs. The school-based part of a TVET training programme will be divided into the basic program and the main programme where the training programme may vary according to the needs of the relevant industry needs.
