Bandar Seri Begawan, 4 July 2025 – The SEAMEO VOCTECH Regional Centre successfully hosted the closing ceremony of the SEAMEO Centres Policy Research Network (CPRN) Summit 2025, marking the culmination of two days of intensive policy dialogue at The Empire Brunei. Held under the theme “Building Bridges to a Sustainable Future: Inclusive Collaboration and Innovation in Education, Science, and Culture,” the summit brought together senior policymakers, researchers, and education leaders from across Southeast Asia and partner nations.
The distinguished closing ceremony was graced by Yang Mulia Dr. Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin, Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at Brunei Darussalam’s Ministry of Education and SEAMEO High Official. Also in attendance were Datuk Dr. Habibah Abdul Rahim, Director of the SEAMEO Secretariat, and Yang Mulia Mr. Haji Norjemee bin Jenek, Centre Director of SEAMEO VOCTECH, alongside directors, deputy directors, and senior officials from SEAMEO member countries and partner institutions. Their presence underscored the region’s strong commitment to collaborative policy development for a sustainable future.
A highlight of the final day was the keynote address by Dr. Margarita Pavlova, Research Fellow at the UNEVOC Centre and Visiting Professor at Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, who presented groundbreaking insights on “Green Transition in ASEAN: Greening TVET as a Driver for Innovation and Community Engagement.” The ceremony included a special recognition segment, where certificates were presented to keynote speakers in appreciation of their invaluable contributions to the summit’s discourse. In her synthesis remarks, Dr. Vina Adriany, Centre Director of SEAMEO CECCEP Indonesia, expressed strong optimism about the policy recommendations emerging from the summit’s deliberations. She also announced that SEAMEO CECCEP will host the next iteration of the CPRN Summit in 2026 and 2027, ensuring continuity of this important regional dialogue.
The CPRN Summit 2025 has established a robust framework for cross-sectoral collaboration, setting in motion several key initiatives that will shape policy implementation across Southeast Asia. Summit outcomes hope to be formalised into policy briefs for distribution to SEAMEO member countries, ensuring the discussions translate into tangible actions. The event’s success reaffirms SEAMEO VOCTECH’s role as a leading convener of policy dialogue and a catalyst for sustainable development in the region.
