On 13 January 2025, the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Training (SEAMEO VOCTECH) and Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Chongqing (LNCCI) came together in an exchange of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two parties at SEAMEO VOCTECH Regional Centre, Brunei Darussalam.
From SV, the signing ceremony was attended by Centre Director Mr Haji Norjemee bin Jenek with the presence of the Centre’s management and staff. Representing LNCCI, Chongqing, China, were the Institute’s Chief Representative, Mr. Allan Donglun Yang, along with project director, Ms. Sky Tingyuan Gong.
The MOU marks the commitment for the two institutions to fostering collaborations including sharing programmes and resources via the regional knowledge platform SEAVET.net, initiating teacher capacity-building programmes for SEAMEO member countries and PR China, and supporting the implementation of innovative TVET programmes in Southeast Asia. Further collaboration aims to promote Chinese+ skills training and support student scholarships offered by PR China to SEAMEO member countries.
To build on this partnership, SV facilitated engagements between LNCCI representatives and three Bruneian higher education institutions — Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), Politeknik Brunei and the Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE) —during their visit to Brunei. These meetings enabled LNCCI and Brunei institutions to exchange dialogues and explore potential programmes to benefit vocational students in both PR China and Brunei.
This partnership reflects the Regional TVET Centre’s ongoing commitment to empower TVET institutions, foster regional collaboration, and strengthen education and capacity building opportunities across Southeast Asia.
