SEAMEO   VOCTECH   (SV)   welcomed   Deputy   Director   of   Administration, Ms. Ruhazlina Syam Abdol Hazis from Centre for Technology Excellence, Sarawak (CENTEXS) on 19 January 2023 for an official visit to the TVET Regional Centre.  Together with Ms Ruhazlina during the visit were other delegates from CENTEXS, as well as one of its training partners, Blue Point School of Hospitality and Culinary Arts, headed by its Managing Director, Mr Alvin Leong. On hand to welcome the delegation to SEAMEO VOCTECH were its Centre Director, Mr Alias Haji Abu Bakar, Deputy Directors, other Managers, Consultants and Officers.

The visit was for CENTEXS and Blue Point School to get better acquainted with the personnel, TVET programmes and activities of the SEAMEO VOCTECH Regional Centre. During the visit, the two Centres exchanged information on their role and mission. SEAMEO VOCTECH presented its corporate video, highlighting notable programmes, achievements and partnerships over the past and current years. Centre Director, Mr Alias elaborated on several of these achievements and identified the digitalising and greening of TVET as the Centre’s emphasis for its upcoming five-year development plan.

Ms Faheezah Mohamad Ibrahim,  Head of  Corporate Strategy and Communications Department, presented on the corporate profile of CENTEXS, enumerating the plethora of 64 training programmes offered by its Industry Academy and its Digital Academy. CENTEXS and its partner training schools have been able to secure 93% employability for its trainee graduates, with 81% of them achieving international certification. Ms Ruhazlina also shared information on the courses now open to international students.

The presentations were followed up with a dialogue session between the Centres to discuss potential collaborations and capacity building on hospitality, digital and green TVET initiatives.

It was agreed that the regional centre would reciprocate with a working visit to CENTEXS soon for the purpose of the MoU signing and for a closer look at the training offered by CENTEXS, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Sarawak Foundation, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development, Sarawak.
